Rishita Sharma, the founder of Green Utsav, is a former IT professional who turned waste management volunteer. In 2016, she established Green Utsav and Rent A Cutlery, aiming to raise awareness about climate change by organizing sustainable events. These events hold a special significance as they convey the importance of reducing and reusing to all attendees. Since then, Rishita has been actively promoting local art, supporting women entrepreneurs, and empowering self-help groups. In 2017, she initiated a WhatsApp support group to educate women about sustainable menstruation, benefiting thousands and preventing countless disposables from ending up in landfills. Additionally, her ongoing #BYOCselfie campaign has successfully reduced the use of disposables. With an impressive impact on more than 5000 lives, Rishita’s work has encompassed over 500 trash-free/sustainable events, and she has trained over 100 students through the Green Ambassador program. Her efforts have garnered recognition from 25 media channels, highlighting the significance of sustainability. By taking climate action, Rishita has already saved 300,000 disposables from reaching landfills, and she is committed to helping one million individuals embark on their own green journeys.
